At first glance, the photographs is the series Downfall (2016) appear as generic scenes of rolling, grey storm clouds. It is quickly apparent, however, that the clouds consist of a completely different substance: spun sugar crystals - or fairy floss – delicately arranged on wires against a backdrop of reflecting mirrors. The sugar clouds are photographed in different stages disintegration, progressively dripping with moisture and falling into forms that reveal the artifice of representation.
