David Lawrey & Jaki Middleton are Australian artists who live and work on Gadigal/Wangal land. Working primarily in sculpture and installation, they are best known for their integration of optical and kinetic elements to create dreamlike scenes that challenge perception.
In 2023, they were awarded the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award for the work Eternal Return, and they have received grants from Creative Australia, the Myer Foundation and Create NSW. They have undertaken residencies in Paris, London and Los Angeles and exhibited widely in Australia and internationally including at FACT Liverpool, UK, Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and the Museum of Arts and Design, NY, USA. Their work is held by the MCA Australia, Wollongong Art Gallery, and Macquarie Group and numerous private collections. Lawrey & Middleton are represented by Gallery 9 in Sydney.
