At first glance, the photographs in the series Downfall look like generic rolling, grey storm clouds. However, closer inspection reveals a different substance: spun sugar crystals - or fairy floss – delicately arranged on wires against a backdrop of reflecting mirrors. The sugar clouds are photographed in different stages of disintegration – progressively dripping with moisture and falling into forms that expose the artifice of representation.
