The Bear That Wasn’t is a sculptural installation inspired by Frank Tashlin’s 1946 book of the same name – a poignant story reflecting on the struggle to maintain one’s true nature in the face of external pressures.
The artwork features a human-sized bear lying with its eyes open, appearing to quietly breathe. This gentle motion of the chest slowly rising and falling imbues the work with a haunting realism, evoking themes of identity, displacement, and self-perception.
